A very güten Morgan: Charming Supersport is my dream daily

Fav cars SP Retro character and modern capability make this Morgan my car of the year

The view that greets a Supersport driver is one of the best in modern motordom: a long, sleek bonnet, swooping wheel arches and diminutive, spotlight-style headlamps ensure this car is characteristically true to Morgans of yore.

But what sets the Supersport apart from its forebears is its ease of use, practicality and ultimately its more accomplished drive.

The BMW 'B58' straight six under that endless bonnet is a fabulous old stager that's brimming with character.

It's smooth, torquey and the ideal wingman for this Morgan: knock it into Sport and you're treated to all kinds of pops and bangs on overrun. But it's the whooshing sound of the turbochargers that adds real drama on the fly.

And because it weighs only 1170kg, the Supersport is seriously quick, with the right amount of deployable power that you can actually relish on a British B-road. Factor in its pliant ride, excellent steering and overall composure and it genuinely does feel like a left-field Porsche 911 alternative at last.
